[Olivine is a little surprised by the affection from Father, but he smiles and gently smooths the owl's feathers with soft petting. A definite fond gesture, brief before his attention returns to the taller man.]

the present itself isn't immediately obvious either, though. Rei will probably recognise it as a style of jewelry box, and inside is a small owl pendant. its body and wings are made of oblong white gems with a thin sheen of grey paints to darken parts of it, and the form itself is delicately wrapped gold wire. once lifted out of its little nest of tissue paper, there's even a pair of dark grey "ear" feathers atop its head.]
